Vertigo's Premium Bay of Fires Adventure from Derby 

Vertigo’s ultimate adventure, the Bay of Fires trail, will leave you speechless as you're transported from the dense Blue Tier rainforest to the stunning Bay of Fires on Tasmania’s Eastern Coastline. After conquering the 42km trail, relax and unwind at our private shack with complimentary food and the option to swim in the crystal clear rock pools below.

The Blue Tier overlooks the world renowned coastline known as the Bay of Fires. Start your 42km ride with a stunning view of the Bay of Fires, your final destination. This singletrack trail takes you through the diversity of blackwood and myrtle forests, giant granite boulders to coastal eucalypt and grass tree landscapes, ending at the stunning beaches of Tasmania's east coast.

The first 13km of the trail includes exceptional flow, flow that rivals the best of Blue Derby and will get your adrenaline pumping for the rest of the ride. After regrouping with your mates for the initial climb, the trail ascends into beautiful coastal forests making you almost forget you’re climbing. And finally, after drinking in the epic view of the Bay of Fires from the end of the climb, a fun 6km final descent will deliver you to the coast. 

Refuel and relax at our private shack overlooking the Bay of Fires coastline with complimentary food and the chance for a swim in the crystal clear ocean, before we shuttle you back to Derby.

Recommendations from Vertigo:

Prepare for changes in weather, cold/wet conditions on the Blue Tier and very hot , exposed conditions on the coastal half of the trail.

Carry plenty of water (min 3 Litres), along with trail snacks/gels etc.

Bring your swimwear (towels are provided).

Hire a Specialized Levo SL or Levo e-bike for the day from us to make the day more enjoyable.

Rider Suitability:

This trail is 42 km and for experienced mountain bikers only. You need to be well prepared, fit and able to ride blue intermediate features for a number of hours. You will be riding through remote Tasmanian mountain areas with limited or no easy access should you have an injury. Please call the shop on 0488463333 to discuss riding experience, concerns or questions regarding this trail. 

Departure Conditions:

**This trail will be closed on days that are Extreme Fire Danger/Total Fire Ban deemed by the Tasmanian Fire Service. Vertigo MTB will exchange shuttle services or day of departure in these circumstances.

Vertigo's Blue Tier + Atlas Day 

Vertigo's iconic all day Blue Derby MTB adventure! Ride the stunning Blue Tier trail in the morning, refuel with lunch at the historic Weldborough Pub, then continue on to ride back to Derby following the technical Atlas trail in the afternoon. We shuttle, you ride!

If you're an intermediate rider coming to Derby, Vertigo's Blue Tier + Atlas day is a MUST!


Kicking off at 9am, our shuttle will take you on a scenic drive through the rolling hillside of Tassie’s North East to the breathtaking sub-alpine mountain range of the Blue Tier. From there, riders will begin an epic journey through approximately 35 kilometers of remote wilderness singletrack with incredible scenery and world class trails to match. 

Starting in the high alpine, riders will descend through the all-time flow of the Blue Tier, passing through lush myrtle forest, dense eucalyptus trees and green mossy creeks. After 22km of 30% climbing and 70% descending - finishing with the ultimate gravity flow of Big Chook - the Blue Tier trail pops you out at the Weldborough Pub where you can purchase a delicious lunch before the next leg of the journey.

After a well-earned rest, a second shuttle will take riders to the Atlas trailhead. Geared towards tech enthusiasts, Atlas is a 16km advanced intermediate trail that undulates its way to an epic techy descent that flows into the Blue Derby network.

After the Blue Tier you can choose to take the shuttle to Atlas or take a return shuttle to Derby.

  • Ride the Blue Tier to Weldborough (includes Big Chook)
  • Purchase lunch at the historic Weldborough Pub
  • Shuttle from Weldborough to the Atlas trail head
  • Ride the Atlas trail right into the Blue Derby network, choose between the flowing Dambusters Descent or take the Krushka link and tackle the famous EWS trail, Trouty, before ending the day in Derby.

Experience the epic Blue Derby trail network without a worry. Our Black Stump Shuttles run on a time schedule so you can plan your day perfectly. With each session offering up to 4 shuttles, this product has been designed to cater for every type of rider. Whether that be smashing quick laps of Air Ya Garn - the famous jump line - or exploring the depths of the 125km plus network, you’ll be sure to make the most of your Derby experience.
Our shuttle drivers are mountain biking enthusiasts dedicated to helping you choose the right trails for your riding style and ability. Be sure to ask for their advice if you aren’t sure which trails to ride.
Regular uplifts at half hour intervals during each session. Each departure guarantees you a seat, however, it's up to you how many you use. No refunds if you miss a shuttle.

Dreaming Pools Shuttle from St Helens  
Dreaming Pools: Starting on Loila Tier the Dreaming Pools is a 27km adventure trail that will take riders out in to the St Helens back-country.  The trail starts up high overlooking the stunning East Coast before traversing through tall Iron Bark forest and winding through deep gullies, opening up vistas to the South West.  Around the 6km mark the trail undulates its way down towards Constable Creek with flowing single track that will put a smile on your dial.  The Dreaming Pools are natural rock pools that offer a great way to cool off mid ride before the trail meanders along the creek side with plenty of vantage points of waterfalls and rock slabs.  You’ll then make your way back in to the trail network allowing you to finish back at the Flagstaff Trailhead.

The Loila Tier multi shuttle provides access to intermediate to advanced trails only and we recommend this shuttle to experienced mountain bikers only.
